Childrens Biblestudy

An Introduction to the Westminster Shorter Catechism also known as the Shorter Catechism. The purpose of the Shorter Catechism is to educate lay persons and children in matters of doctrine and belief.

The WSC is in a simple question and answer format to facilitate memorization. Typically, parents and the church would use the shorter catechism to train their children in the ways of the Lord. New converts are also given the WSC as well as the Confession of Faith and Holy Scripture to study. Various denominations have used the Westminster Confession and Catechism to instruct their members.

I love this little catechism! I am homeschooling my only school-aged daughter. For our Bible lesson subject, I am catechizing her with this.

Andy, its brilliant isn’t it. My family love it and we take 5 minute or 10 minute bites from it every day.

We do a question a week in morning worship at Church. This saves me having to think of a ‘childrens talk’ every week, and it educates adults and children alike!

Hey brother thank you for posting this information. My wife and I have been looking for a Children’s Catechism for our two daughters for a while now. Since we are reformed in our doctrine and absolutely believe in the sovereignty of God in all matters, this Westminster Catechism, is just what we need. May the Lord Jesus Christ continue to bless you as you speak the truth and defend God’s truth from within and without…..
