Since the fall of man from grace in the Garden of Eden, Adam’s descendants have battled thistles and thorns, sweated for bread and battled the aging process that constantly reminds them of their mortality.
This week began with a doctor’s letter for my wife to go for a medical check up. Something to do with the usual blood pressure check, urine analysis and blood tests. Then I came across this article that could answer all our problems at one seating. The i- toilet:
The high-tech loo analyses users’ urine, temperature, blood pressure and weight every time they answer a call of nature. In a matter of seconds it produces a wellbeing report which is displayed on a wall-mounted screen. The data can also be transferred to the user’s computer and sent to their doctor for further scrutiny. Made by Toto, the so-called Intelligence Toilet is the latest in a long line of high-tech conveniences to come out of Japan. Others include posterior shower jets, hot-air dryers, perfume bursts, heated seats and noise-masking audio effects for the easily-embarrassed. The Intelligence Toilet is capable of storing the data of up to five different people and retails for 500,000yen (£3,800). – The Sun
But looking at the price tag I guess I have more chances winning the Japanese lottery than buying just the toilet seat alone. The i- toilet could have been a blessing, but it is a sad constant reminder that we are mortal and slowly wilting and in the process of physical depreciation.
We are limited by time and space. We leak, sweat, bleed and die. I can hardly wait for the moment when this strain on humanity is lifted. The day when we won’t need doctors or hospitals. Even i-toilets. Thank God for medical science that patches us up when we creak and break down. But humanity and medical science can only do so much. There will come a day-a day that was foreseen by John the author of Revelations. The day when God reverses the curse that entered the world through human sin:
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away. -Rev 21:3-4
