13 Signs You Could Be A Christian Nomad

My favourite law enforcer and (yes) street evangelist has a very interesting post on a common finding these days -Christian nomadism….(I love sign number 7)

Nomadism is a growing problem within the Body of Christ and has infected the biblical evangelism community. Nomadism is a serious problem among not only young and immature believers, but also older more mature believers, and as well as some who are well-known in the biblical evangelism community.

The following list of symptoms is in no way whatsoever intended to be a tongue-in-cheek or flippant offering. Nothing about this subject is a laughing matter. The list first appeared on Twitter and some have asked me to compile the list in the form of a blog article.  So, here it is.

Symptom 01: You claim to need no teachers to help you understand the Bible.

Symptom 02: You misinterpret Old Testament prophesies about Israel’s harlotry and apply them to all structured Christian churches.

Symptom 03: You believe God has called or gifted you to separate the tares from the wheat, contrary to Jesus’ own words (Matt 13:28-29).

Symptom 04: You make claims like, “I love the Body but I hate the Church” to justify separating from what you claim to love.

Symptom 05: If asked by a Christian where you go to church, you get defensive and make a speech about bad churches.

Symptom 06: You piously assert you answer to no one but God, ignoring what Bible says regarding submitting to godly church leadership.

Symptom 07: You are a Pelagian.

Symptom 08: You believe you have reached the point of completed sanctification, and you’re proud to let others know it.

Symptom 09: You fervently study Scripture, but you do it like the Pharisees of old (John 5:39).

Symptom 10: You are part of a group where the leader decided himself that he met the biblical qualifications for leadership.

Symptom 11: You add obedience to Christ and a militant form of KJV-onlyism to your soteriology

Symptom 12: You speak little of the cross and you deny the imputed righteousness of Christ.

Symptom 13: You’ve read the other 12 symptoms; you know some apply to you; your not in a church; and you really don’t care.

I’m very much interested in this subject. But, i think it should go beyond this. It’s very appalling that many are making leaders a cynosure of focus and making them to take the place of Christ in their Christian journeys resulting to jumping from one congregation to another instead of imbibing the Bereans concept and holding on to faith in Christ alone!

While I think all these points are great, I think the term should be changed. Nomad isn’t a good term to use. Most of the apostles became nomads. Jesus was a nomad. They (myself included) traveled around while recognizing the need for community (church). Should be 13 signs uve become a legalist or 13 signs u need to get ur butt back to church, ha
