God Scares Man Utd Ace!

So God, The Almighty has taken to shaking up the Manchester United squad. This week it was apparently the turn for £ 18 million midfield maestro Anderson whose full name is Anderson Luis di Abreu Oliveira. The 22-year-old had reportedly spent the evening at a nightclub before leaving with two friends in a French-registered £100,000 Audi that has a top speed of 197mph.

The Audi R8 sports car, with Anderson’s male friend at the wheel, slid off the road and hit a wall before flying 100 feet through the air and landing in a field. Anderson’s ‘lifeless’ body was said to have been dragged unconscious from the burning wreckage before it exploded, with witnesses reporting the player saying he owed them his life. A spokesman for Gestifute, who represent Anderson, said: ‘It was an Almighty fright.’ – The Daily Mail

At this rate one should get scared. Where can you hide when the Almighty is out after you? It has always been known that God gets all those he elects to draw to himself. No body can ever miss his appointments with silly modern excuses like, “Oh, my cell phone was out of area”. Is it not written?

Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. Psalms 139

I am often asked what the difference is between a minor heart attack and a major one. Well, simple, a minor heart attack is one you remember. A mangled “cheap” Audi R8 is hardly a car that Anderson will remember. But I hope this minor incident makes him realise the fickleness of riches and the frailty of the human frame. What is life? We are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

As Man Utd fans take a deep sigh and realise that God is closely watching the players during preseason training it should probably give them a renewed assurance of great things to come. All other clubs are said to be watching the situation closely and praying that the next season’s title is not decided by “an act of God”. But come to think of it, which season has ever been decided without Him knowing?
