Krunking it up: Youth Pastors Gone Wild!

While muslims are teaching their kids to recite the qur’an cover to cover, lets see what Christian children get to do with their youth pastors. In desperate bid to appear relevant and cool some youth pastors seem to be krunking it up a notch. And sadly there’s little time or none spent studying the Bible. Or I could just be wrong.

My husband is a youth pastor that seeks Gods will in his ministry. My husband is not the kind to get up on stage and do things like this but who is to say that this very minister in this video dosent present the gospel to these kids the way God tells him too. Who are we to judge over one video posted online? Remember those who judge shall be judged! Student ministry may not be in the bible but technically a student minister is a preacher to the younger generation. The same prayer, studying, and preperation, is needed to prepare lessons for the young ones… The same ministering to the needs of the group is required also. If God is being glorified in all that we do, His Word is being taught and young people are giving their lives to Christ then I know He is pleased with student ministry.

Ashley, it depends what you mean by ‘needs of the group’. Are ministers called to satisfy the felt needs and provide entertainment…it depends what your calling is. Paul did not commission Timothy as a young pastor to go and krunk it up in Ephesus. he told him to show himself a workman approved, rightly dividing the word of truth for a time would come when people would not love to listen to truths but gather for themselves preachers who speak and do things that itch their ears. I like what Spurgeon said “ye are the salt of the earth…not sugar candy” http://tinyurl.com/24prpby

    Very good Eddie.

When I first saw this I was appalled… by a slightly overweight white man trying to krunk. Then it hit me how bad this is from a catechetical perspective.

I firmly believe that in addition to the Gospel, Proverbs should should be of first importance. It might not be cool or fun for some, but most who profess aren’t for real anyway. Teach them and let the others be bored.

Nice. Just further proof that when you do something outside the Bible, you are headed for disaster. I think the greatest thing that ever happened to me was getting canned as a youth “pastor” at my former church. The fact that there’s no Biblical mandate for youth ministry and that my goal was to put the responsibility back where it belonged on the parents (Deut. 6, Eph. 5:21 – 6:4) to disciple and evangelize their kids was not taken to with open arms to say the least.

But “…we have to have a youth ministry…we have to let kids worship in ‘their’ way…” yada yada, on and on. By emphasizing the catering of Christ to kids, there has been a generation of spiritual brats created that are reactive rather than proactive. They only worship when the environment suits their needs. You know, some fog, lights and a band that knows 4 chords and 5 songs and makes teenage girls cry.

I guess God had no way of saving kids before youth ministry….although I seem to remember something about a guy named Timothy….

    Soli Deo Gloria!

Oh, if the apostle Paul would only have thought to do this on Mars Hill. Maybe, just maybe, they would have listened to his message more intently…or if Stephen, would have used this technique, maybe he would have escaped the stoning…
It is hard for me to see this kind of foolishness going on under the banner of Christ. If this isn’t an example of Laodicea Church Romping, I don’t know what is.

      Yeah Eddie,
If only the martyrs in Foxes Book of martyrs knew how to krunk…maybe they would not have been killed for their faith. I am thinking of the persecuted church in china and north korea….maybe if we teach them how to krunk, things will change.
