Alabama convicts to choose to either go to jail or go to (wait for it)…yup, CHURCH!

I dont know if this news is going to make you squirm or breakdance but Alabama authorities think one can have their cake and it it too. Well…

BAY MINETTE, Ala. –  Authorities say non-violent offenders in Bay Minette, Ala. now have a new choice: Go to jail, or go to church every Sunday for a year.

WKRG-TV reports that Operation Restore Our Community begins next week.

The city judge will let misdemeanor offenders choose to work off their sentences in jail and pay a fine; or go to church every Sunday for a year.

If offenders select church, they will be allowed to pick the place of worship but must check in weekly with the pastor and the police department.

If the one-year church attendance program is completed successfully, the offender’s case will be dismissed.

Well, I guess mega churches in Alabama must be preparing and working overtime to make church more attractive, more sensitive and more enjoyable for a new set of demographic attenders.  What if these criminals don’t receive the things of God “for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.” ? (1 Cor 2:14)

What if the muslims feel left out in this whole rehab program or what if the Jehovah’s witnesses and Mormons soon want in too?

But hey why sweat? Look at the bright side. They will sure hear the gospel if they come to church. No movie sermon series or sex sermon series, no christian yoga and no prosperity fluff.

Wait a minute. They still preach the gospel in America. Don’t they? 🙂

I don’t think the Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Mormons will soon want in. The Muslums won’t like it. And the atheists will have an absolute fit.
